Wellfleet Beaches, Harbor and Ponds

Wellfleet has a wonderful variety of beaches with both fresh and salt water.  A permit or parking fee is required at town-owned and operated beaches from the third weekend in June through Labor Day.  Stickers can be purchased at the Beach Sticker booth at the Town Pier. Current sticker prices can be found here. The town operates four ocean beaches equipped with restrooms and lifeguards: Newcomb Hollow beach, Cahoon Hollow Beach, White Crest beach and Maguire's Landing.  A fifth ocean beach, Marconi, is owned and maintained by the National Seashore.  Daily parking is available for a fee at Cahoon Hollow Beach, Whitecrest Beach and at Marconi.

Ocean beaches offer opportunities for body and board surfing, boogie boards and swimming. Surfing is permited at town beaches outside of the "town operated" areas and  hang gliders are restricted to White Crest Beach, and are allowed only before 9 AM and after 5 PM. Parking along Ocean View Drive is prohibited and subject to fine and towing, even with a beach parking permit.

Wellfleet has beautiful sunrises on the ocean side of town and beautiful sunsets on the bay side.

Bay beaches appeal to those wanting warmer, calmer salt water.  Town operated bay beaches are Indian Neck, Burton Baker Beach, Mayo Beach, Powers Landing and Duck Harbor.  Windsurfing is only allowed at Burton Baker Beach, and at Indian Neck, and only during certain hours of each tide, so windsurfers should obtain a copy of the regulations at the Beach Sticker Booth on the Town Pier.

The Beach Sticker Booth on the Town Pier is open Sunday to Thursday 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM; Fridays and Saturdays from 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM. They may also be available at your motel, cottage colony or real estate agency. Your car registration, and a beach parking permit form, or a lease, signed by your landlord, are required as proof of renting in Wellfleet. Credit cards are accepted but personal checks are not accepted at the Beach Sticker Booth. A $15 daily fee is charged for parking at White Crest and Cahoon Hollow beaches. Parking is free at Mayo Beach and on the Town Pier.
